Welcome to Crown Catering! At the heart of everything we do is a simple yet profound philosophy: hospitality. For us, food is more than just sustenance; it's a powerful language of love, appreciation, and connection. It's how we express our deepest care for the people who matter most.

Selina Choate’s culinary journey began in the vibrant kitchens of Brooklyn, New York, where she was born and raised. Growing up in a city that's a unique tapestry woven of cultures and cuisines, her passion for cooking and sharing her creations blossomed early. From bustling street food to intimate family dinners, Selina reveled in the diverse flavors that surrounded her. Soul food, in particular, was a cornerstone of her upbringing—a staple in her home, her grandparents' kitchen, and the tables of her aunts, uncles, and friends.

For over two decades, New Hampshire has been home to Selina. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Hampshire and dedicated years to working in government, non-profit organizations, the university system, and even the hotel industry. Selina’s time in hotels was particularly impactful, allowing her to significantly expand her knowledge of hospitality and service, truly understanding what it takes to create an exceptional experience. Through all these experiences, especially in the university setting, she discovered a powerful truth: food was often the common denominator that brought people together, a universal language understood by all. Selina’s life here in Manchester, NH, is rich with family; she’s a proud mother of two beautiful girls, including her oldest born in 2020 during the global pandemic, and a loving wife to her husband since 2019, and their lives are centered around their family, church, and community.

Selina’s love for bringing people together through food extended into her college years. She'd often cook for friends and fellow residents in the dorms, even starting cherished "Sunday Dinner" traditions to foster a sense of home and community. The true spark for this business ignited during the pandemic when she had the honor of giving a virtual cooking demonstration for the Juneteenth celebration sponsored by the Black Heritage Trail of NH. Sharing some of her favorite dishes—collard greens with smoked turkey, baked mac and cheese, and fried chicken—was a pivotal moment. It marked the unofficial beginning of her catering venture, something she pursued on the side of her full-time work. Life, as it often does, became busy, and Selina’s catering dreams had to be put on hold.

But now, she is thrilled to announce that Crown Catering is here, ready to dedicate its full time and energy to bringing the rich, comforting, and decadent flavors of soul food to the state of New Hampshire. Our goal is to share a piece of Black American culture, influenced by Selina’s New York City roots, through every dish we prepare. We can't wait to share our passion and hospitality with you, Crowned in Comfort, Served with Soul.
